Veteran pilot JOHN TAYLOR and driven young engineer MIN SUN descend in separate submersibles to repair a damaged deep-sea cable – only to discover a lost space shuttle on the seafloor, its crew murdered by an organism that infected them in orbit. The sole surviving astronaut crashed the shuttle here on purpose, sacrificing himself to keep the invader from reaching land. When an unmarked attack helicopter destroys their cable ship, John and Min are stranded in the abyss – and the same organism is now spreading across their hulls. If they surface, it escapes.
